Top games to watch on Matchday 15 in the Bundesliga
Bayern München vs Mainz 05: The defending champions return to action this weekend, with Bayern Munich set to host seventh-placed Mainz in what should be an interesting affair. Nagelsmann's side head into this tie on the back of their crucial 3-2 victory over Dortmund in Der Klassiker, a result which helped them stretch their lead at the top to four points. Furthermore, the Bavarians humbled Barcelona yet again over the midweek, with the German giants beating the Blaugrana 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League.
The visitors, meanwhile, put an end to their three-game winless run in the Bundesliga last Saturday by beating Wolfsburg convincingly, overcoming their rivals 3-0. That victory means Mainz are now only two points behind a Europa League berth and are four behind the fourth and final UEFA Champions League. A triumph at the Allianz Arena will do their ambition of qualifying for Europe wonders. However, winning at the Allianz Arena is no easy feat.
Bochum vs Borussia Dortmund: Fresh off their Der Klassiker loss, Dortmund will be on the hunt for a return to winning ways when they visit Bochum. A brace from former striker Robert Lewandowski brought their demise, albeit following some controversy, as Marco Rose's men dropped four points behind their bitter rivals in the title race. The Germans bounced back over the midweek, thrashing Besiktas in the UEFA Champions League 5-0, with Marco Reus and Erling Haaland score two goals each.
Bochum, meanwhile, are 10th in the league and will be looking to force their way further into the top half of the table. The home side have won their last two fixtures and have triumphed in four of their last six outings, going down against only Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia M'gladbach. Given that B04 are in for a tricky fixture, which they could lose or draw, Breisgau-Brasilianer have the golden opportunity of re-entering the top three should they emerge victorious. The home side still boast the best defense in the league, having conceded only 13 goals all season, and are thus capable of pulling this off. Unfortunately, Freiburg have only won once in their last three outings. Hoffenheim, on the other hand, boast a three-game winning streak and thus have the superior form.
