Both PSG and Newcastle will be seeking a win after losing their last Champions League ties.

PSG will have revenge firmly on their minds as Les Parisiens prepare to host Newcastle United on matchday five of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stages. Luis Enrique's men come into this game having beaten Monaco 5-2 in a seven goal thriller to stay on top of Ligue 1, but have not been at their very best in the Champions League so far this season.

Indeed, PSG have alternated between a win and a loss from their last four group stage games. They started off well by picking up a hard-fought 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund before shockingly being beaten 4-1 by upcoming opponents Newcastle on matchday two. Despite rebounding from this by cruising to a 3-0 win against AC Milan, the Rossoneri were able to beat them 2-1 at the Stadio San Siro to make it a first win for Stefano Pioli's side and keep their round of 16 hopes alive for another day.

At the moment, PSG currently find themselves in second spot, one point behind Borussia Dortmund who will be facing Milan in the other match from group F. The ambitious club, who have spent quite a lot of money over the last decade in their relentless pursuit to win a Champions League title, have now won seven of their last eight games across all comps and are unbeaten at home so far in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Newcastle, who are back in their first Champions League in two decades, come into this upcoming tie having earned a comfortable 4-1 win over Chelsea. Competing on multiple fronts has not been easy for Eddie Howe's team, especially with injuries starting to pile up at the wrong time.

To complicate matters, the Magpies do not have a good record when it comes to playing French sides away from home. Indeed, their last win against a French team on the road was back in 2004 with that win being their only positive result in their last seven trips to France in European competitions.

They will need to overcome that hoodoo on Tuesday, as following back to back losses to Dortmund, Newcastle have slid down to last place in Group F. However, things are quite congested in this group, with all four teams certainly having a shot at qualifying for the round of 16. A win for Howe's team could really shake things up in the table as they would certainly overtake PSG, who sit in second spot and potentially Milan, provided that the Rossoneri do not beat Dortmund in the other Group F match.

With everything at stake, and this being the penultimate group stage match, it is safe to assume that PSG's upcoming tie with Newcastle will surely be one to keep an eye on for both fans and neutrals alike. Will Les Parisiens exact revenge on their opponents following their shock 4-1 loss earlier this season? Or will the Magpies successfully overcome a negative away record against French teams to keep their hopes of making the round of 16 alive?
