Marco Verratti is a huge transfer target for Barcelona. The Italian midfielder is seen ace the man to bolster the Blaugrana’s midfield by newly-appointed boss Ernesto Valverde.
However, luring the 24-year-old from PSG has proven difficult. The French giants are unwilling to sell one of their biggest assets, frustrating the Catalan giants in their attempts.
According to Sport, Barcelona have been handed a possible breakthrough in their Verratti chase. The Catalan newspaper name Philippe Coutinho as the man blow life into this deal.
Sport claim that PSG are interested in the Liverpool star. The Brazilian’s displays for club and country last season has attracted interested from the Ligue 1 giants, but Les Parisiens know they must break the bank in order to sign Coutinho.
The 25-year-old signed a new deal with the Reds until 2022, meaning Liverpool hold the upper hand. PSG, who want Coutinho to help them reclaim their league crown from Monaco, could pay €90m-€100m on the Selecao ace.
Signing Coutinho would severely dent PSG’s pocket, and Barcelona believe that will force them to sell Verratti. Signing the Italian midfielder would also require the Blaugrana breaking the bank.
