The Everton defender will most likely sit out for the rest of the season due to the horror injury.

Republic of Ireland defender Seamus Coleman suffered a ghastly injury in their World Cup qualifiers clash against Wales on Friday. The Everton star collided with Neil Taylor, who plies his trade for Championship side Aston Villa.

The match had to be stopped for a couple of minutes as the 28-year-old writhed in pain. Several images doing rounds on the internet showed just how terrible the injury was. His leg appeared to be broken and hanging at the mercy of his socks and thin skin.

Taylor was instantly sent off after the tackle as the two sides played out to a goalless draw. The photo below shows the full extent of the horrific injury.

The Republic manager Michael O'Neil told journalists during a post-match press conference that the injury did not look good. And chances are high that he could be ruled out of action for the rest of the season.

And here's how the internet reacted to the graphic scenes that stole the show at the Aviva Stadium on Friday evening.
