It’s of no surprise why Manchester United are after Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman can split apart any defense, and he showed this during Atletico Madrid’s Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona on Tuesday.
The Spaniahs Primera Division superstar tormented the Blaugrana back four, and scored a lovely goal that should have stood but was wrongly ruled out for offside. He then grabbed an exquisite assist for their only goal of the night.
Transfer rumors tip the Red Devils as favorite to land Griezmann, as questions remain over his future at the Vicente Calderon Stadium. A cloud of doubt also surrounds Diego Simeone’s future at the club.
However, speaking after their Copa del Rey exit, Los Rojiblancos president Enrique Cerezo was adamant that both player and coach will honor their contract. Cerezo also took time to troll Man United.
When asked about the Griezmann to Man United rumors, the Atletico president said: "Manchester United? Small team!”
Cerezo then added (as per Marca): "I believe in the contracts that people sign, that goes for [Diego] Simeone and Griezmann."
This will likely do little to deter the 20-time Premier League champions from attempting to sign the French attacker. Jose Mourinho appears ready to break the bank in order to land the 25-year-old, as the Red Devils aim to return to their glory, glory days.
