Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants to boost his squad as he eyes his first Premier League title with the blues this season. The 2014/15 league champions are firmly in the title race but have some key areas to strenghten before the winter transfer window closes on January 31.
And top of Conte's to-do list is the transfer of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth to the Bridge, the Italian manager has confirmed. Ake is a Chelsea player who was loaned out to the Premier League club on a season-long deal, but his performance against Millwall on Saturday in the third round of the FA Cup caught the eyes of the former Juve boss.
He recently decribed the 21-year-old player as an 'interesting opportunity in this window for us.'' Goal further quotes The Cherries' manager Edie Howie as saying:
"It looks like that will be the case. It's not 100 per cent finalised yet.
"It's easier said than done to say we are going to recruit a player in similar stature to Nathan and I'm not sure there's too many out there.
"So that's going to be a difficult one for us, but we will assess our options and try and make the right decisions."
Ake, a Dutch-born player, is one of the most-highly-rated youngsters in football due to his versatility - he can play as a left-back, defensive midfielder, or a centre-back. He joined Chelsea in 2012 and made only five appearances for the West London side. He was then sent to Reading, Watford and most recently Bournemouth on loan.
