Manchester United assistant manager Rui Faria has sarcastically praised referee Mark Clattenburg for showing Ander Herrera a red card during their Premier League clash with Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday. Faria was speaking to the press in the absence of his boss Jose Mourinho, who opted not to say a word after being sent to the stands during the defeat due to inappropriate conduct along the touch lines.

The Portuguese tactician appeared to be protesting the referee’s decision not to award his side a penalty when Matteo Darmian was brought down in the box by substitute Jon Flanagan. The result was a barren draw, which meant that the Red Devils had lost only one of their last seven games in all competitions. Mou’s men now head to Turkey on Thursday to face Fenerbahce.
