After the disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Barcelona in the Champions League, Arsenal’s next endeavor is a trip to Manchester United in the English Premier League on Sunday.
The Gunners, who currently sit in third with 51 points, will be hoping for a win with the aim of gaining ground – or keeping pace – with league leaders Leicester City, whom they trail by two points.
However, the odds of victory could have taken a huge blow, as manager Arsene Wenger revealed ahead of the weekend trip that the Gunners will be without English ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after injuring his knee against the Blaugrana.
Arsenal's official website quote Le Prof as saying in the pre-match press conference:
“We lost Oxlade-Chamberlain on Tuesday night. It’s not [a recurrence of a previous injury]. Not at all. It’s a new injury. He has been cut in two by Mascherano and he did his knee. We have to see how big the damage is in his knee. He is consulting a specialist at the moment. Hopefully we will have good news. How long is he out for exactly? I don’t know.”
Wenger failed to specify how long the Englishman will be sidelined, but looked to cool fears that he'll miss the upcoming Euros by claiming it will only be a few weeks.

Chamberlain is not the only Gunners ace who could miss the clash with the Red Devils. Gabriel Paulista faces a late test to see whether he’ll be fit, whilst Wenger revealed he’ll be cautious with former United man Danny Welbeck having made his comeback in the 2-1 win over Leicester.
“Gabriel has a test today and tomorrow then we will see if he is available for the game.”
“He [Danny] has been out for a while, we still need to be cautious with him,” the 65-year-old added.
