The Capital One Cup continues this Tuesday with a number of fixtures. Teams from around the league will try to strip the title from Chelsea's hands, while trying to make a name for themselves in this tournament. One of those sides that will be keen on making an impression will be Manchester City, a team that ended last season without any silverware, and to start them off this year, Dick Advocaat's Sunderland will try to shock them during the third round of play.
Sunderland already played one game in the tournament, eliminating Exeter City with a 6-3 scoreline. On the other hand, this will be Manchester City's first game of this Cup.

Manchester City has won four of the previous six games between these two sides in all competitions, including a League Cup win on March of 2014. The last time Sunderland defeated Manchester City goes back to November of 2013, when the Black Cats managed to beat the Citizens 1-0. Since then, the Sky Blues have won three games and drawn one more, outscoring their opponents 12-6.
Team news
Both teams may have to deal with a couple of absences. Dick Advocaat will not have Younes Kaboul and John O'Shea available, while Vincent Kompany and David Silva are not expected to perform for the visitors. The good news for both sides will be on defense, with Wees Brown returning for the Black Cats, while Pablo Zabaleta may enjoy some playing time after being away from the pitch for one month.
