One round of games has been played in Copa America's Group B, and the current leader is not the team everyone expected. After showing off their class against Paraguay in the first half, Argentina could not hold on to a two goal lead against Ramon Diaz's men and gave away a goal in the dying seconds of the match. On the other hand, Uruguay dominated Jamaica, but their 1-0 victory was at risk since the Reggae Boyz exposed some defensive problems in Los Charruas' defense.
This will be payback time for Argentina. Four years ago, Lionel Messi's side was the top candidate to win the trophy for the first time in 18 years, but their hopes were crushed by the Uruguayans, who eliminated them after a penalty shoot-out in which Carlos Tévez missed his shot. With their multi-talented cast up front, coach Gerardo Martino wants to earn his National Team's pride back by defeating the Uruguayans and taking away from them the top spot in Group B. Messi's form was not as brilliant as usual, but he managed to score his first goal in the competition since 2007.
For the Uruguayans, it's pretty clear this side still misses Luis Suarez. Although Edinson Cavani was a constant threat for the Jamaican defense, the team's attack missed Suarez's speed and skills, while Nicolas Lodeiro failed to impress in Los Charruas' midfield. If Uruguay manages to steal at least one point away from La Albiceleste, they could almost secure their place in the knockout stages. If they don't, their future will be decided in the last group match against Paraguay.
This match will feature the two most winning sides in the tournament's history. Uruguay has won 15 Copa América titles, while Argentina has called themselves "champions" 14 times. Can Los Charruas add more pressure to La Albiceleste's hopes of silverware, or will Messi & Co. be able to erase all those doubts about their performance?
