Taking full advantage of the International break, El Salvador and Ecuador will play their second friendly match in the U.S. Both sides are experiencing a sort of reconstruction, one deeper than the other. For El Salvador, trying to find a new team after their star players were incriminated in a betting scandal, and for Ecuador, their goal will have to be picking up the pieces of their failed World Cup performance.
El Salvador played against powerful Colombia, losing their match 3-0 and barely posing a threat for the team led by Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez. For their next match, Spanish coach Albert Roca will try to put together a team that can at least draw the match against the heavily favored Ecuador. If El Salvador want to make an impact against the South Americans, star striker Rafael Burgos will have to play his best.
On the other side, the South American team will test some new players with the 2015 Copa America edition on their mind. Joao Plata from MLS' Real Salt Lake will have another opportunity with "La Tricolor", helping West Ham's Enner Valencia to create danger up front. Furthermore, coach Sixto Vizuete's outfit will pay homage to one of their historic players, Ivan Hurtado, who will hang his boots after this game. Their previous match ended with a 1-1 draw against the U.S., a game that saw Landon Donovan's farewell from the USMNT.
The match will be played at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
