Preview: Chelsea vs West Ham
With losses in their last two games, Chelsea, who were once nearly sitting on top of the league table, have now slid down to eighth spot. In fact, just one point now separates them from upcoming visitors West Ham, who sit in tenth place and will be eager to make it three wins in a row against the Blues for the first time since the 1970's. Although Chelsea have lost just one of their last 14 home fixtures against the Hammers, their sole loss during this time came in this exact same fixture last season, and that's something Frank Lampard's men will have on the back of their minds heading into this match - especially as West Ham have only lost one of their last six games.
Chelsea face some tricky matches against Manchester City and an Aston Villa side who have surprised many with their solid showings this term, so the Blues really will not want to drop and more points - especially as their upcoming opponents are currently on either side of them in the league table. However, they have drawn two of their last four home games, and West Ham, who have won consecutive road matches, will naturally be looking to take advantage of that.
