Ahead of the Champions League final, one of the hottest debates is whether Real Madrid’s can cope with Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian ace has been in sizzling form for the Reds this season, winning the Premier League Golden Boot and Player of the Season awards while leading them to Kyiv.
The former Roma ace will lock horns with Marcelo in what should be an exciting individual battle. The Brazilian left-back was thus asked about the prospect of coming face to face with the 25-year-old in a pre-match press conference.
The Selecao ace instead issued a warning about this topic. Marcelo argued that the Real Madrid players should not focus on stopping only Klopp’s deadly attacking trio, let alone a single player, as they will be coming up against 11 men.
Marcelo also insisted he will know what to do against the Merseyside superstar, saying (as per Marca): "I know exactly what I have to do, and I know what I need to do to help my team.
"Liverpool are a magnificent team and have had a great season. We have to think about the whole team, not just one or two players, that is how you win games.
"It is a great opportunity to play in the final, and we're here, as are Liverpool who also deserve it."
The Brazilian also hit back at Klopp for a recent remark he made about the Blancos full-back. He is known for being an attacking-minded left-back, with the German boss’ “he doesn’t defend remark” – albeit it was twisted – being presented to the Real Madrid man.
Marcelo, however, was not affected by that statement, responding: "I haven't heard him say it, but heard about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
"I am happy with my work, as are my teammates, the coach and those within the national team too. I do my work with modesty and humility, and have nothing to prove to anyone."
