Arsenal’s fight to keep hold of MVP Alexis Sanchez got more difficult when the Gunners missed out on the Champions League on Sunday. With Europa League awaiting the north London outfit, one of Europe’s biggest clubs are ready to sweep in for the Chilean.
They are Bayern Munich. With Sanchez’s buddy Arturo Vidal already plying his trade at the Allianz Arena, Carlo Ancelotti is keen to lure the former Barca attacker to Germany.
However, according to Bild, Wenger has a plan to fend off interest from the Bavarians. The German tabloid claim that Arsenal are ready to offer Alexis a salary package that even Bayern Munich are unwilling to match.
The north London outfit have offered Alexis over 20 million euros per season. The Bundesliga giants’ highest-paid player is Robert Lewandowski, and he earns around 16 million euros per year.
Only time will tell whether Arsenal’s number 7 stays on board or runs for the exit. With the player entering the final year of his contract, the Gunners might have to sell the attacker this summer or risk losing him for nothing next year.
Sanchez has one last shot at silverware after the disappointing 2016/17 season at the Emirates. Wenger’s side will take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final, but will unfortunately be without three key defenders.
