The 4-2 loss to Real Madrid has gone from bad to worse for Bayern Munich. Not only were the German giants dealt the short end of the stick with the officiating, they also lost Manuel Neuer to a lengthy injury.
Shortly after the final whistle the Bavarians confirmed the worst – the World Cup winner suffered a fracture in his left foot during the second-leg Champions League tie. The sweeper keeper is now set for a “lengthy spell out”.

The 31-year-old custodian put in a resilient display against Los Blancos. He made several key saves to keep die Roten’s hopes of qualifying alive, but could do little to stop Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick.
Two of the Portuguese ace’s goals were debatably offside, but a lapse in concentration from the Bayern Munich defenders left Neuer vulnerable. Now, Carlo Ancelotti’s side must make do with their second-choice keeper.
The injury occurred during the goalkeeper’s attempt to stop Cristiano’s third goal of the night. Although Bayern Munich did not announce the estimated length of Neuer’s lay-off, the German star will likely miss the rest of the season as a result.
The Bundesliga leaders boast an eight-point advantage over their closest rivals in the league – RB Leipzig. Only five games remain before the season ends, meaning the title is comfortably in Bayern Munich’s grip.
