MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders are set to welcome their fan-favorite forward, Clint Dempsey.

The long wait is finally over for Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey as he has been cleared to play for the MLS Cup defending champions this season. Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey confirmed to reports on Tuesday that Dempsey was fit to resume play after recovering from a heart problem he had last summer. He has not kicked a soccer ball for the champions since August 21.Sounders begin their title defense on Saturday March 4 away to Houston Dynamo a BBVA Compass Stadium. Dempsey, 33, may not feature in the match instantly upon his return, but is expected to get more playtime this season that he did last season.
