In what could be music to the ears of the “Wenger Out” boys, Arsene Wenger claims that he is “coming to an end”. This comes after days of cries from Arsenal fans for the Frenchman to resign after crashing out of the Premier League title race once again.
This is according to club legend Ian Wright, who claims that Le Prof confided in him during a recent encounter. The two met on Thursday, with the Englishman telling BBC Radio 5Live that Wenger “looked tired”.
Wright said (as per the Daily Mail): “I was with the boss [Wenger] last night and if I'm going to be totally honest, I get the impression that I think that's it, I genuinely believe that.
“I was with him for a few hours last night, we were talking and obviously he didn't say to me "I'm leaving at the end of the season". I just get the impression, looking at him that that's it, I think that's it.
“He actually mentioned to me that he's coming to the end. I've never heard him say that.”
Back-to-back defeats to Watford and Chelsea in the league have the north London outfit trailing the league leaders by 12 points. Although it’s not mathematically impossible, the odds of the Gunners winning their first Premier League title since 2004 is all but gone.
Arsenal are keen on extending Wenger’s current contract, due to expire this summer, but are in the dark over the manager’s plan. As a result, a shortlist of candidates to replace Arsene – including Allegri and Tuchel – has reportedly been drawn up should the French tactician walk.
