The biggest game in English football - Man Utd vs Liverpool - is set to feature one of the most creative innovations in the history of live broadcasting for big events. Popular sports television company SkySports is set to mount a new broadcasting technology known as spidercam at Old Trafford.
The company announced on their website that their technicians were back at Old Trafford soon after the Man Utd vs Hull City tie earlier this week to mount the super cameras. This will be the first time such a high-tech broadcast feature is used in the history of the Premier League.
How it works
The spidercam (pictured below) is mounted over the pitch on wires to cover the ongoing action from different angles. With a speed of up to 20 miles an hour, the camera can cover different aspects of the game, in high motion, such as free-kicks, player's emergence from the tunnels, counter-attacks, fans reactions on the stands - all from a bird's eye view.
The super Sunday will feature an epic inter-city rivarly, with the city of Manchester taking on the city of Livepool in two different ties - Man Utd vs Liverpool and Everton vs Man City. To follow the action live from Manchester and Merseyside, check out the live broadcast channels listed on the match pages of the two super Sunday fixures.
