Tottenham are no strangers to losing huge talents, but rarely do they lose them to rivals. However, this could be the case soon, as a report has emerged claiming Chelsea are plotting a move for one of the north London outfit’s starlets.
According to the Times, that man is none other than Eric Dier. One of the club’s breakout players from last season, alongside Dele Alli, the Englishman has now found playing time hard to come by. Nonetheless, the 22-year-old remains a talented player.
The former Sporting Lisbon player has lost his spot in the starting eleven to summer signing Victor Wanyama. Due to his versatility, Dier has been used in the center-back role, but has been dropped due to the return of Alderwiereld.
Dier, one of England’s best performers at Euro 2016, is afraid he will lose his spot in the national team to the likes of Danny Drinkwater or Jack Wilshere if he doesn’t play more often. However, since the player signed a five-year deal in September, a January exit is out of the question.
Pochettino is not willing to sell the Englishman, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could do business if a hefty bid is lodged. Chelsea, though, will face competition, as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also monitoring the midfielder’s situation.
