Matchday 14 is almost but not yet over, as Hull City and Middlesbrough are yet to play. Nonetheless, nine out of the 10 fixtures have ended, giving us exciting games.
The weekend kicked off with Man City vs. Chelsea, with Arsenal taking to the field later on that day. Sunday, Liverpool and Man United were in action, but neither got the result they were hoping for. Here’s the biggest talking point from this weekend.
Poor refereeing continues to plague the Premier League
This is not a phenomena limited to England alone, but we will take a look at the occurrences in the Premier League. This was up for display in the most highly-anticipated clash of this round: Manchester City vs. Chelsea.
The home side lost 3-1 despite taking a first-half lead thanks to Gary Cahill’s own goal. They also had two players – Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho – sent off shortly before the final whistle.
They can, however, be forgiven for feeling bitter towards referee Anthony Taylor after two poor decisions in the first 45 minutes. First there was a penalty claim blown off by the match official, despite Cahill handling the ball inside Chelsea’s penalty box.
How the hell is Anthony Taylor a referee in the Premier League?

Anthony Taylor would have sent him off and reported Luiz to his parents if he'd been an Arsenal player

Later on came the moment where David Luiz elbowed Sergio Aguero, but escaped without a sending off. Oddly enough, the foul from the Argentine that got him red came against the Brazilian center-back. Fans mocked the referee and the level of officiating in England.
Defending wasn’t at its best this weekend
Nine games were played on Saturday and Sunday; six games saw one team score 3+ goals. Liverpool conceded four in a shock defeat to Bournemouth; West Ham and Swansea both conceded five each against north London duo Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Citizens shipped in three goals at home to lose at the Etihad after leading for the first time since 2009. Even the Blues didn’t enjoy their best defensive display, as Gary Cahill was guilty of an atrocious own goal.
2009 - This is the 1st time that Man City have lost a home league game that they were leading in since April 2009 v Fulham (1-3). Turnaround

Man United’s struggles continue
The Red Devils can’t hit top form. Every week there is a story about a disappointing display, and this one was no exception. Manchester United traveled to Everton and conceded an equalizer in the 89th minute.
That was their third consecutive draw in the league. Mourinho’s boys sit in sixth, but their position should not deceive you. They have been below par this season.
