  • The last time these two sides met, Oscar Tabarez’s crew ran out 3-0 winners.

Chile, don’t look down… the standings!

The gap at the top is growing; Brazil and Uruguay are now destined to qualify for Russia 2018. The fight for the remaining three – possibly only two – spots is where the excitement is.

Chile hold the last spot – a playoff – with Ecuador and Colombia sitting in fourth and third. Althouh there is a huge opportunity for the Copa America champions to move up the standings, they should be wary of those below them in the table.

A point behind La Roja are Argentina, the runners-up from the 2014 World Cup. They take on Colombia, and can leapfrog Vidal and Co. should Chile fail to win and La Albiceleste triumph.

Unfortunately, the Copa America holders face one of South America’s most in-form sides. With only two defeats from their 11 games, Suarez and Co. boast the second best goal difference (+17). Oscar Tabarez’s boys have lost only once in their last eight games, with even Brazil and Colombia unable to beat them.

Chile face a tough test on Tuesday. Victory, though, is vital for La Roja, but not many will tip them for the win.
