Unfortunately, their first game of the month will be a tricky one – a north London derby clash with neighbors and bitter rivals Tottenham. Furthermore, the run of fixtures won’t get easy, as they will travel to Man United and host Bournemouth after the Spurs clash in their next two games.
Regardless, Wenger accepts the challenge and insists his side are ready to rewrite history. He said (as per the Daily Mail): 'We have an opportunity to show we are ready for a challenge like that and do better than we have done historically,' said Wenger.
To pile on the worries, Arsenal – level on points with leaders Man City – have five injury doubts ahead of their highly-anticipated weekend clash. The likes of Santi Cazorla, Nacho Monreal, Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Hector Bellerin face late fitness test to determine their availability on Sunday.
Bellerin and Monreal both sat out Tuesday’s Champions League win, andArsenal suffered in their back line, conceding two quick goals against Ludogorets. Santi could be in contention to feature, but Wenger will likely opt for Granit Xhaka having seen out his suspension.
