The 46-year-old revealed the timeline for his departure after guiding The Dragons to the UEFA Euro 2016 semi-finals.

On late Friday, Wales boss Chris Coleman revealed that he will step down as manager of the national side in two years time after guiding his side to the 2018 World Cup.

Coleman, who guided The Dragons all the way to the UEFA Euro 2016 semi-finals before losing 2-0 to Portugal, only has two more years remaining on his deal, but insists he will see out his contract.

The 46-year-old was, however, adamant that this is no gimmick in order to earn an improved deal to his current £200,000-a-year agreement with the British nation.

He said (as per The Mirror): “If the FAW wanted to talk to me about another contract I would be cashing in a bit wouldn’t I?

“Same as if I jumped ship and went somewhere else because we had done well at a tournament. I would not feel right.

“I have signed a good contract and I am looking forward to the campaign. But I am sure this will be my last campaign whether we qualify or not.

“That will be six years in the job which is a long time.

“I think this will be my last hit at it so I will give it my best shot but I would not consider going anywhere else. I want to see this through.”

With their current crop of players featuring the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, Wales should be hopeful of making it to Russia in two years time. Coleman, despite dropping this bombshell, is confident that his players won’t lose focus for the qualifications amid his recent announcement.

Chris added: “I hope they look at this campaign like the last one where you give everything.”

Coleman and his boys returned to Cardiff after crashing out in the last 4, but received a heroes’ welcome nonetheless for their remarkable UEFA Euro 2016 campaign.
