With Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich gearing up for their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, news reports from back home has linked one of their defenders with an English Premier League switch.
According to Bild, the player is none other than Rafinha, with the 30-year-old set to enter the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena once the 2016/17 season kicks off, thus obliging the Bavarians to either sell or risk losing him for nothing next year.
Having signed for the German giants back in 2011, the Brazilian right-back has found playing time more easy to come by ever since Pep Guadiola pushed captain Philipp Lahm into the holding midfielder role, racking up 22 appearances and 3 assists in this campaign.
Nonetheless, the tabloid claims that Rafinha has landed on the Gunners’ radar, as Arsene Wenger’s side ready a three-year offer for the former Genoa man.
However, this transfer rumor is one that is hard to swallow, as the Brazilian will have to compete with Hector Bellerin – the Spanish starlet who has made the right-back position at Arsenal his own – for a spot in the starting eleven should Rafinha complete an Emirates Stadium switch.
Rafinha is not the only Bayern Munich player linked with the English top-flight this week, as star striker Robert Lewandowski recently admitted that he could one day ply his trade in the Premier League.
