Barcelona's fans live all over the world, and one of their biggest fan bases is located in Mexico. With that in mind, an interesting number of former Blaugrana footballers will treat their Mexican fans with a friendly match taking place in the city of Querétaro. Their opponents will be former El Tri players such as legendary shot stopper Jorge Campos, Luis Hernández and the Mexican National team's top scorer, Jared Borgetti.
Barcelona's legends will include such marquee players as Gaizka Mendieta, Hristo Stoichkov, Ronald De Boer, Vitor Baia and even UEFA Champions League winner Eric Abidal. Former Barça captain Carles Puyol was also scheduled to play this game, but an injury will prevent him from doing so. The team will be coached by Jose Mari Bakero, part of the 1992 "Dream Team" coached by the late Johan Cruyff.
As for the hosts, fans will be able to travel back in time to watch their former idols play. Footballers such as Francisco Fonseca, Braulio Luna, Jared Borgetti and former Chivas and América player Ramón Ramírez will be included in the mix, trying to give fans their money's worth.
Borgetti's skills earned him a spot in Mexico's history, currently remaining as El Tri's all-time top scorer. Here is one of his most shining moments during the 2002 World Cup against Gianluigi Buffon.
Luis Hernández, the only man able to score four goals for Mexico in a single World Cup edition, will also be a part of Mexico's squad.
Each half will last 35 minutes, and a penalty shootout will take place after the game concludes.
