Bayer Leverkusen will try to make the most out of their home field advantage when they host second-placed Borussia Dortmund, in what should be an exciting Bundesliga game.

Two of the most in-form teams in the Bundesliga will face each other on Sunday at BayArena. The hosts, Bayer Leverkusen, have managed to stay unbeaten since December 12th. On the other hand, Thomas Tuchel's crew has proven to be a dominant force in the domestic tournament, although they were not able to hold on to their fine start of the season, eventually conceding the top spot to Bayern Munich.

Both teams enjoyed European success this week against Portuguese teams. Bayer Leverkusen's trip to Lisbon ended with a 1-0 win against Sporting, while Borussia Dortmund dominated FC Porto and eventually won 2-0.

Bayer Leverkusen

Die Werkself have shown massive improvement since the end of 2015, losing only a DFB Pokal match last week. One of the key assets for Roger Schmidt's side has been Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, who quickly became the team's goal scoring leader with 13 goals in the domestic tournament. Nevertheless, the Mexican striker will not be available due to an injury, forcing Schmidt to improvise with Stefan Kiessling and Karim Bellarabi up front.

Added to "Chicharito's" absence, Lars Bender and Robbie Kruse will not make it back in time to play this game, although Kevin Kampl seems to have recovered from an illness and should be available to play on Sunday.

Borussia Dortmund

If the yellow-and-black team wants to scare the almighty Bayern Munich, then they have to take advantage of their not-so-frequent mishaps. Two weeks ago, the Revolutionar failed to get closer to the German giants by dropping points against Hertha, just when Bayern had drawn their match against their opponents on Sunday.

For Sunday's match, coach Thomas Tuchel will be able to start his deadly attacking trio, including Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who will want to add goals to his tally and extend his lead as the Bundesliga's top marksman.

Head to head

These teams have played 73 games against each other, and things couldn't be tighter between them. Each team has won 26 games, drawing the other 21. Their last game ended with a 3-0 blowout in Borussia Dortmund's favor, although the hosts have shown a lot of improvement since then, giving fans some hope about their chances on Sunday.
