The issue of ticket prices in football has been one of the hottest topics recently, with Liverpool fans’ walkout during the 2-2 draw with Sunderland in demonstration over a rise in ticket price grabbing the headlines.
The Merseyside giants announced that they had scrapped their planned top-price £77 ticket in the new main stand after fans left Anfield 77 minutes into Saturday’s draw.
After the successful demonstration, one may be forgiven for predicting Arsenal fans to follow suit, with Gooners paying big money to attend the Emirates Stadium.
A season ticket at the Emirates Stadium costs £2013, the highest in England, whilst a £97 fee is charged for non-member to attend a home game.
However, Wenger has defended the pricing amidst all the scrutiny, insisting that the reigning FA Cup champions have no problems on that front.
"It is a very complicated subject," the Frenchman said in a pre-Arsenal vs Leicester City press conference, as per Sky Sports.
"It is true we get more television income [than other European leagues], that is down to the audience and success but you know as well that it is down to the pressure of the market to pay for the players with a higher price - and our expenses will come up straight away to increase their wages.
"After that you want the ticket prices to be as comfortable as possible for our fans. I looked at the comparisons - our cheapest prices are cheaper than anywhere in London.
"Our most expensive price is a fraction higher than the other clubs in London.
"Our most common ticket price is lower than many places in England. I don't think that we have a massive problem on that front."
Arsenal will host Claudio Ranieri’s crew on Sunday; however, fans of the league leaders are planning to arrive at the game 5 minutes after kick-off in protest after the game was moved from Saturday.
With the Foxes faithful receiving support from Gunners fans, Le Prof has called for supporters not to demonstrate in the highly-anticipated weekend clash.
"You can protest before and after, but during the game, you want everybody to be there," Wenger added, as per BBC Sport.
