Bruce Arena's team was the first one to score 1,000 goals in the MLS. Robbie Kean scored twice and David Villa once.

With LA Galaxy's 5-1 victory over New York City FC extends the dominance of the West Coast team while the East Coast side sinks a bit more game after game. Besides the three points that Bruce Arena's team got, there were more reasons to celebrate as they took the first ever game against a team that they may form a strong rivalry with.

Many were expecting this game to focus on what Steven Gerrard did for Galaxy and what Frank Lampard could do for New York in case he showed up. The two used to go head to head in England when they played for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively. Now, to continue this rivalry in the MLS was a dream for many football fans.

The former Red delighted his fans by being part of the starting roster, but Lampard was not even seen on the bench at StubHub Center. While Gerrard did not score, he did play a very good game. He was participating in many of the plays created by his team and even gave Robbie Kean a pass for what could have been the sixth goal of the night.

Robbie Kean, another of the Galaxy's designated players from Ireland, did score twice earlier on. Both of his goals came in the second half and they gave his team a 2-0 and 5-1 lead in the end. He is now third in the list of the leading scorers of the season with 15.

Galaxy's five goals of the night helped the franchise reach a milestone that had not been reached by any other MLS team. The league is only 20-years old and last night the reigning champions have now scored 1,000 goals since their debut. 49 of them have been scored this season and only five of them have come from the spot.

Giovanni dos Santos was the other player that really shined for Bruce Arena's team. The Mexican player is making the best out of his move to Los Angeles where he has scored in almost every game. Against New York City, Gio scored one goal and gave two assists. It was the first time he played the whole game.

Sebastian Lletget and Gyasi Zardes were the other two LA players to score during the game. When the game only had ten minutes remaining it was David Villa who scored for the visiting team with a penalty kick. Gerrards team now holds the lead of the Western Conference and Lampard-less NYCFC gets its third loss in the last five games while holding on to seventh place in the Eastern Conference momentarily.
