The biggest match of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup so far, Australia vs South Korea, proved to be a tightly contested encounter on Saturday. The Socceroos went down 1-0, a result which marked their first loss at home since March 2009 when they got defeated by Kuwait in the qualifying stages of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. Lee Jung-hyup netted the only goal inside the 33rd minute.

Tim Cahill came off the bench 20 minutes from time but failed to bring his side back into the game. All the same, Australia have qualified for the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup where they will clash against China.

In Group A's other match, Oman and Kuwait locked horns at the Newcastle Stadium. Al Muqbali's 69th minute goal restored the Red Warriors' pride. They've crashed out with 3 points, behind group winners South Korea and runners-up Australia. The Blue of Kuwait, meanwhile, go home empty-handed with zero point from their three group games.
