SportItalia history, coverage, features
Sportitalia is an Italian digital terrestrial television channel dedicated to sports. Previously known as Sportitalia 1, it was first launched in February 2004, but was closed in November 2013 and then relaunched in June 2014. Sportitalia is managed by the company Italia Sport Communication.
Sports disciplines that have been featured on Sportitalia in the past include basketball, boxing, cycling, football, golf, rugby, swimming, and tennis. Its football-related coverage has shown interesting levels of variations over the years, having obtained the rights to leagues like the A-League, several cup competitions from Europe and beyond, as well as content from partner Club TV networks like Ajax TV and Manchester City TV. In addition, Sportitalia has earned a reputation as an occasional broadcaster of domestic and European five-a-side football action. Youth sports tournaments have also made it in Sportitalia’s catalog.
