Philippe Coutinho’s dream move to Barcelona is dead, according to the Independent. The news outlet claim that the Brazilian is set to meet with Liverpool officials to heal the wounds after trying – but failing – to force a Camp Nou move.
The Blaugrana were ready to break the bank for the Brazilian after losing Neymar to PSG. The Reds, on the other hand, were unwilling to do business and thus the player and the Spanish giants have both given up hope on a transfer.
Coutinho is now due back at Liverpool. The former Inter Milan playmaker will have to make build back the burnt bridges with club officials, players, and fans. It should be noted that the player handed in a formal transfer request, which the Merseyside giants rejected – alongside several Barcelona bids.
Philippe is expected to have “uncomfortable conversations” with the club ahead of a return to the pitch. The Brazilian missed their opening two games of the new Premier League season due to back injury, but should return to the squad upon recovering.
Coutinho’s entourage are allegedly blaming Barca for the transfer saga. They claim the Catalan giants used Coutinho’s family to put pressure on the player to agree to a move.
