About

UniMás history, coverage, features

UniMás is a free-to-air American, Spanish-language television network owned by TelevisaUnivision. It was founded in January 2002 under the name “TeleFutura” and is available on cable, satellite, and streaming television providers in the USA.

The network was unveiled in July 2001 ahead of its January 2002 launch. It remained under the TeleFutura name until December 2012, when it rebranded to UniMás.

UniMás’ programming initially consisted of telenovelas, feature films, comedy series, game shows, sports, and more. However, following the rebranding in 2012, the network increased its sports-related content, as well as programming from Mexico and Colombia.

The network has broadcast notable sporting events in the USA since its inception, thanks to its ties with Univision Deportes, Univision’s sports division. This includes coverage of Liga MX and Major League Soccer, as well as supplementary Spanish-language coverage of the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup, and Copa America.

Additionally, following Univision’s acquisition of Spanish-language rights from Fox Sports in 2018, UniMás began televising the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. The network also started airing the UEFA Conference League, initially known as the UEFA Europa Conference League, when UEFA’s third-tier club competition launched in 2021.

The network is available in HD and has enjoyed carriage via major U.S. television providers throughout its history, including AT&T U-verse, DirecTV, Charter, fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, and more. Furthermore, UniMás has been available to stream on Univision NOW, Univision’s own streaming service.
