2024-2027
The BBC has acquired UK rights to the UEFA Champions League for the 2024-2027 cycle. It is the first time that the British public service broadcaster has landed TV rights to this competition. BBC’s Champions League contract includes match highlights on television, as well as on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and mobile apps.

2025-2029
The BBC has retained non-exclusive FA Cup rights from 2025-26 to 2028-29 in the United Kingdom and Ireland, following a multi-year extension deal. As per its sub-licensing agreement with TNT Sports, which is owned by commercial broadcaster Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD), the BBC continues to provide free-to-air coverage of the FA Cup from the 2025-26 through the 2028-29 campaigns.

The BBC Red Button is an extension of the BBC’s programming in the United Kingdom, typically used for live sport when simultaneous events are taking place. The service was first launched in 1999, and back then, it was known as BBC Text. In 2001, it was rebranded as BBCi before becoming known as the BBC Red Button in 2008.To access the BBC Red Button, users used to have to click the red button on their TV remote controls when watching the BBC. In more recent times, the red button has been available online through the BBC iPlayer. BBC iPlayer is the BBC’s online streaming service, which is available through a web browser and a mobile phone app.
Live football has frequently been shown on the BBC Red Button in years gone by. It has often been used for live matches during international football tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships. All programming on the BBC Red Button is in English.
