The club has reportedly sent an extension offer to the footballer's agents three months ago, but there has been no honest reply to it.

Working around Barcelona's financial issues is not easy, and having to deal with some of your best players ready to leave the club for free is something the club cannot afford.

Recent reports have hinted that one of the most reliable players for Xavi could leave the club next summer after failing to agree a contract extension with the Catalan club. Surprisingly, the team has already offered the footballer in question an upgraded deal, but the player has not replied to it, hinting he is not ready to stay in Spain anymore.

The footballer in question is Frenkie de Jong, who will see his deal with the Blaugrana coming to an end in 2026. Apparently, the player's entourage has asked him to consider other offers, especially since the club's financial situation does not allow the Catalan entity to pursue top signings.

In fact, the new deal offered to him by the club does not include an additional fee: he would sign for the same amount, only adding years to his contract.

With that in mind, it seems De Jong will be interested in bringing in an offer to lure him away from Camp Nou, according to a report by Mundo Deportivo. The club will wait for his answer regarding the contract extension offer until the end of this season, but if the Dutch midfielder fails to do so, we could witness a transfer saga featuring the Oranje star.
