Current Form: Cardiff vs Chelsea
Chelsea will hope to come back from the international break revitalized after losing to Everton last time out. Maurizio Sarri has still managed to hang on to his job - for now - but he will be expected to at least finish inside the top four and hopefully steer Chelsea as far in the Europa League as possible. It's set to be a very busy fixture list for the Blues, who will be featuring in a whopping eight games between now and the end of next month, including two Europa League ties they are expected to win, and Sarri will be looking to pick up full points in the league against struggling sides like upcoming opponents Cardiff and Brighton before having to take on fellow big side Liverpool later on.
Cardiff, for their part, are facing a much-unwanted battle against the drop. However, unlike Chelesa, the hosts come into this game having beaten West Ham in their last game before the international pause and certainly manager Neil Warnock is hopeful that his side will be able avoid relegation at the end of the term.
The club were notably rocked earlier this year when their record signing, Emiliano Sala, was tragically killed in an airplane accident en route to arriving in Wales for his first-ever training session with his new teammates. And their inability to find a replacement up front certainly has not helped matters as they have netted just 27 goals so far this term - with two of those coming in their recent 2-0 win over West Ham. Only Huddersfield (18) have fared worse up front, and Cardiff have lost all of their three Premier League meetings with Chelsea.
That being said, the Blues have been hardly consistent this season, and the hosts will be looking to at least nick a point off a side who have struggled to find their true identity as Sarri continues to battle to implement his footballing philosophy at Stamford Bridge.
Current Position: Cardiff vs Chelsea
Chelsea find themselves in sixth spot, behind Arsenal and Manchester United heading into this contest. Meanwhile, struggling Cardiff sit in 18th place - inside the drop zone - and desperately need to turn things around if they want to avoid featuring in the Championship next term.
