Real Madrid’s rumored interest in Kylian Mbappe was all but confirmed by Florentino Perez, with the club president hinting that the Monaco sensation is in consideration for a Bernabeu move.
Perez revealed this in an interview with esRadio, saying (as per Marca): He is a very good player, it reminds me of last year of when they said that we would sign Pogba. The summer is very long, Zidane has had a close relationship with him for several years.”
This means that the 18-year-old could link up with Cristiano Ronaldo, should the Portuguese ace remain at Los Blancos. Altough Mbappe has a lot of work to do if he wishes to merely match Ronaldo’s success; stats show the Frenchman is already outperforming the Ballon d’Or favorite when he was 18.
At the age of 18-and-a-half, Mbappe has 60 official games under his belt – two with his national side. At that age, Ronaldo had only featured in 31 matches. Kylian’s official debuted aged 16 years and 11 months; Cristiano’s was at the age of 17 years and six months.
The Monaco forward had to wait until he was 17 years and two months to score his first official goal; the Real Madrid legend waited until he was 17 years and eight months.
Mbappe has even won more titles, getting his hands on the European U19 title and the Ligue 1 crown by the age of 18. Cristiano had zero titles at the same age.
Scoring goals is an art Cristiano has mastered, but his tally at the age of 18 was inferior to the Frenchman’s numbers. The Portuguese ace found the back of the net only five times; Mbappe has netted 27 times.
