Usually, Cristiano Ronaldo jumps at the possibility of scoring one more hat-trick. But on Wednesday, the Portuguese striker failed miserably while trying to score his third goal against Celta.
Real Madrid's all-time top striker placed himself in front of goal around the 75th minute, and when he faced goalkeeper Sergio Álvarez, he used the tip of his boot to take the shot. Unfortunately for him, the ball sailed away without even hitting the post, leaving fans shocked after such a close-range miss.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, CR7 referred to that particular moment, replying in such a way that would have made Zlatan Ibrahimovic proud.
"I'm human, these things can happen. It's not normal for me to miss in such fashion, but what really matters is that I have scored the first and second goals, that's what really means something," CR7 stated.
Trying to keep fans focused on what's next, the Portuguese player admitted the team needs to think about Sunday's clash against Málaga, which will be tough enough for anyone to overlook.
"We know they're quite good at home, we just need to be better. Our main goal is to win there, and then, we'll be able to prepare for the Champions League final," the player added.
