Four days after Ecuador held Brazil to a goalless draw in their opening Copa America match, the Ecuadorians will be looking for a win in order to keep the second round hopes alive. Ecuador has only one point on the table, as head coach Gustavo Quinteros will enter their second match of this summer tournament with the same attitude and philosophy from their tie against Brazil.
Meanwhile, Peru started in an excellent manner, beating group B opponents Haiti 1-0 to give them the top spot on the table with 3 points. If Peru comes out victorious against Quinteros’ lads, Los Incas will be automatically placed in the knock-out round, regardless of Brazil’s result. In addition, a draw for Peru will also give them a good position on the table with four points, handing them one foot in the knock-out stage.

Ecuador has had quite the injury list, as regular starters such as midfielder Pedro Quiñonez and striker Felipe Caicedo have been ruled out of the tournament. Central defenders Frickson Erazo, Oscar Bagui and Jorge Guagua are also doubtful to play due to ongoing injuries. Furthermore, Quinteros’ crew must be careful with suspensions as Enner Valencia, Juan Carlos Paredes and Jaime Ayovi are all one yellow card away from suspension.
Ricardo Gareca will be delighted to have a fully fit squad ahead of their second match of the Copa America Centenario. The Peruvians’ first-choice goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez has recovered in time from a hand fracture and will most likely face Peru on Wednesday.
