Juventus is the team with the most players adding two to the list. With his hat-trick, Ronaldo now has 80 UCL goals.

An interesting first week of action in the 2015-2016 UEFA Champions League season is behind us and the governing body of European soccer competitions has announced who they think were the best 11 players. Ronaldo with his hat-trick and Di Maria with his first UCL goal for Paris Saint-Germain headline this list.

Juventus is the team that has the most players in this list. The Italian side that finished runner-up last year, started this year with a 2-1 victory on the road over Manchester City. No one from the reigning champions Barcelona made this exclusive list after they tied 1-1 with AS Roma.

UEFA presents the Team of the Week

Matchday 1 Team Player by Player

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus): The 37-year old goalkeeper is still as good as when he won the World Cup with Italy in 2002. While he was not able to keep a clean sheet, he did make it possible for his team to win by not allowing more than one goal. His miraculous saves included a double threat by Raheem Sterling and David Silva.

Alessando Florenzi (Roma): If Barcelona was not able to sweep Roma it was in great part thanks to its defense. Florenzi knew he had to be at the top of his game to stop the reigning UCL Champions. He played 85 minutes and ran over 8500 meters. His scored all the way from midfield for Roma to tie the game in the 50th minute.

Dante (Wolfsburg): This Brazilian defender ran 9714 kilometers during his game against CSKVA Moskva. The 31-year-old player helped his team keep a clean sheet during the game and win 1-0. This was his first UCL game with his new team and he just transferred from Bayern Munich.

Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus): This Italian defender was just as brilliant as his goalkeeper during the game at Etihad Stadium. He did not need to foul anyone to keep most things in place for the Juventus defense. 9448 meters was the total distance covered by Bonucci in the game against Man City.

Josip Pivaric (Dinamo Zagreb): The Croatian side was not expected to do any harm to Arsenal. Pivaric did not seem at ease with that and he was responsible for the goal that lead his team to victory 2-1. His pass completion percentage was only 73%, but it was his goal in the 93rd minute that made headlines worldwide.

Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica): Benfica made a clear statetement that they want to be respected while playing at home with a 2-0 win. The Argentinian midfielder scored the first of two goals for his team early in the second half. They kept Astana away from their net for the most part. Gaitan played the whole game and suffered five fouls throughout the match.

Hakan Calhanoglu (Bayer Leverkusen): While Chicharito made news for scoring his first UCL goal with Bayer, it was Calhanoglu who stole the show in Bayer's game. The 21-year old Turkish midfileder got his shot on target twice, including one from the penalty spot in the 76th minute. He also gave one assist to help his team win 4-1 in their Champions League debut.

Angel di Maria (PSG): Di Maria seems to be leaving his problems with Manchester United behind as he is starting to get into PSG's rythm. The Argentinian star shined bright for the French side with one of the two goals the team scored against Malmo. It only took Di Maria four minutes to score with his new team in the UCL.

Antoinne Griezman (Atletico Madrid): It only took the Frenchman seven minutes to drop two goals against Galatasaray in their first Champions League game. The former striker for Real Sociedad got his first goal in the 18th minute and then in the 25th he would seal a 2-0 scoreline. He would end up playing the whole game.

Hulk (Zenit): The Brazilian striker also scored a brace in the game between Valencia and Zenit in the UEFA Champions League. Thanks to Hulk, his team would grab a 2-0 lead before halftime. His team would end up winning the game 3-2 and Hulk would get carded right before the game ended.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid): Last but not least, Cristiano Ronaldo made this list. The Portuguese player came up with a hat-trick in the game against Shakhtar Donetsk. Two of his three goals came from the penalty spot and the third one after the ball bounced off the hands from the goalkeeper. Now Ronaldo has 80 UCL goals and is only one shy of the 500 mark for the number of goals in his career.
