Rumor had it that Diego Simeone would stay in Madrid for a long period of time. That rumor is now a fact as the Argentinian manager has signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid until 2020.

A new stadium is on the way to replace the Vicente Calderon, which has been standing since 1966. It was the first stadium in Spain to obtain a 5-star UEFA Elite Stadium Certification. It also hosted a World Cup in 1982. Simeone felt the new venue shows how committed the club is to move forward.
