Trying to keep up with Chelsea's pace, the current Premier League champions Manchester City will make a trip to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion. With recent history on their side, but with a depleted striking force, the Citizens will try to get three points off The Baggies in order to keep hunting Chelsea at the top of the domestic tournament.
West Brom will try to change their history while playing on Boxing Day. They have only won one match on this particular date, but they have not lost any Boxing Day matches for three years now. Coach Alan Irvine will have Chris Brunt and Giorgios Samaras available, after not having them last week. Brunt has struggled with a hamstring injury, and the Greek striker will come back after solving a family matter in his country. WBA hold currently the 15th position in the EPL, and if things don't go their way, they could finish this week in relegation spots.
Manchester City will try to overcome a series of injuries to some key players. Without Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko up front, the Citizens will have to rely on Yaya Toure to keep his goal scoring streak. Toure's six goals have represented 18 points for the Sky Blues, since the team has never lost when he puts his name on the scoreboard. During Boxing Day, the current EPL second place holders have not five out of their last seven outings, and have not lost in their nine most recent matches against West Brom. Without a doubt, Pellegrini's personnel will try to keep those stats growing for them.
