Who will play in the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League?
Last year’s champions Sevilla will once again be participating in the tournament and will be looking to defend their title. Villarreal will be other Spanish team part of the competition after Real Sociedad failed to make it through the play-off round. Tottenham and Everton who finished 5th and 6th in the Premier League last season respectively will be the representatives from England, with FA Cup finalists Hull City failing to make it to the Group Stages. There will be four teams from Italy after Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Torino were joined by Napoli who were defeated by Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League play-off match.
Celtic who controversially won their Champions League third round contest against Legia Warsaw were unable to advance further into the competition after they were defeated by Maribor in the next round. The Hoops will now be hoping they can have more luck in the Europa League.
Who were last season’s cup winners?
Sevilla won Europe’s second most popular tournament for the third time in eight years after they defeated Benfica 4-2 on penalties after the match ended goalless in extra time. This was the second consecutive season the Portuguese outfit made it to the Europa League final and just like in 2013, the eagles had to once again settle for the runners-up medal.
