Manchester City took the three points against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium with a comfortable 3-1 win. Early on Monday, Liverpool FC confirmed the arrival of Mario Balotelli in a £16 million deal. The Italian striker didn’t have a good first day at the office as he witnessed from the stands how his new club got beaten by ex-team Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

It was an open match during the first minutes of play with both teams enjoying chances to take the lead but it was Manchester City who took advantage of Liverpool’s defensive mistake to grab the lead in the 41st minute via Stevan Jovetic’s right-footed shot.
Early in the second half Stevan Jovetic scored his second goal of the night after an assist from Samir Nasri in the 55th minute. After that, Daniel Sturridge had a couple of chances to get one back but his efforts were either missed or denied by Joe Hart.
