The Gabonese ace will be entering the final 12 months of his contract soon, which means the Gunners will have to tie him down to a new deal or cash in on him.

Arsenal are facing a fight to keep ahold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with their top-scorer stalling on a contract. Things are made worse by the fact that the Gabonese ace will enter the final year of his deal this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are preparing for his inevitable exit. The reason for this is that the 30-year-old is allegedly making unreasonable wage demands.

The report states that the strikers wants £300,000 per week, which translates to almost $400,000 every seven days -- $391,400 to be exact. Given that the club could miss out on the Europa League let alone the Champions League, as they sit in 10th in the standings, this is a financial burden the north London giants might not be able to handle.

Should the former Dortmund ace refuse to put pen to paper on an extension unless his demands are met, Arsenal will be forced to sell this summer. They understandably do not wish to see him leave but holding onto the deadly goalscorer for another season only to see him walk out for free in 2021 would be a disaster.

Aubameyang is a popular figure among the Arsenal fan base as he is the man currently carrying the team, but some argue that the club should cash in on him if he is reluctant to commit. The likes of Barcelona are rumored to be interested in his services and the Gunners could generate a respectable transfer fee from his sale which could be used to back Arteta and reinvested in the squad.

As of now, this claim remains nothing more than that – a claim. The attacker has publicly pledged his loyalty to the club and is focused on the remainder of the current season. The Emirates Stadium side are gearing up for their clash with West Ham as they aim to move level on points with the likes of Burnley, Sheffield, and Tottenham.
