W9 is a free-to-air television channel that operates in France. The channel is owned by Groupe M6 and was launched back in 2005. It replaced 6Music, which was launched seven years earlier in 1998.Unlike its predecessor, W9’s programming focuses on more than just music, with reality programmes and drama series also shown.
Live sport has also featured on W9 in the past, including under-21 football matches featuring the men’s French national team. Match replays and highlights have also been shown on the channel.
W9 is available on French terrestrial TV via channel 9. The channel can also be live-streamed through the M6+ app, which can be downloaded for free onto iOS and Android devices in France. On-demand streaming is also available on the app.
