Man City and Arsenal will face off at Wembley on Sunday in the final of the English League Cup. This tie will be important for both teams, but for different reasons.
Guardiola’s crew, who have already bowed out of the FA Cup, knows that defeat against the Gunners will mean the end of their treble hopes. Since they are almost guaranteed the Premier League title and a spot in the Champions League quarter-final, this could be Pep’s first of many titles with the Citizens.
Wenger’s men, on the other hand, are aware that this is probably the only silverware attainable. They are not in contention in the top-flight and face AC Milan in the Europa League round of 16, with the likes of Dortmund, Atletico, and Lyon still in the competition.
Fortunately for Le Prof, he could have two key players back in his squad for Sunday’s game. The first is Aaron Ramsey, who will undergo a late test on his groin injury. The other is Mesut Ozil, who is expected to overcome his illness in time for the final.
Fabian Delph is out for City after being sent off in their FA Cup loss to Wigan. Raheem Sterling is also tipped to miss out with an unspecified muscle injury.
