2018 Remembrance Fixture | Pompey vs. Tottenham Hotspur U21s

Pompey paid tributes to those who have served their country ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy match against Tottenham U21s at Fratton Park. This year is the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, with November 11, 2018 marking the official end of the First World War. The club welcomed veterans, cadets and standard bearers on the side of the pitch. The formed a guard of honour to welcome the teams on to the pitch, where a special Remembrance coin was used for the coin toss. Wreaths were laid on the pitch by both captains and veteran Josh Boggi, who served with 9 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers, and lost both legs and an arm after stepping on an IED during his third tour to Afghanistan. The Last Post was then be played by Rufus Miller from the Portsmouth Sea Scouts, during which supporters observed a minute’s silence. Pompey’s kits were embroidered with a poppy, while seats for the game were donated to Tickets For Troops.
