- This will be the fifth time these two teams met in all competitions, a first between the two London giants since 2003/04.
- If this match ends in another draw, this will be the first time since 1979-80 that two top-flight sides – Arsenal and Liverpool – have drawn fives times against each other in a single season.
- Conte’s side has lost only once in their last eight trips to the Gunners (W3, D4).
- The League Cup remains the only domestic title that Arsene Wenger hasn’t won despite making the final twice (in 2007 and 2011).

The League Cup could be Arsenal’s only shot at silverware this season. The north London club is out of the Premier League and FA Cup race, with several hurdles standing in the way of Europa League success.
Wenger’s men may have the home advantage, but their opponent is none other than Chelsea whom they failed to beat 20 days ago at the Emirates.
Furthermore, the Gunners won’t have new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan available as he is cup-tied having appeared for Man United in this competition this season. Furthermore, Olivier Giroud (hamstring) and Danny Welbeck (groin) remain on the sidelines.
Aaron Ramsey (illness) and Nacho Monreal (leg) are fighting a race against time to be fit. Fortunately, Arsenal convincingly won their last game 4-1 to handed them a confidence boost.
Conte has his own worries heading into this game. Both Cesc Fabregas (hamstring) and Alvaro Morata (back) have been ruled out of Wednesday’s game.
Luckily for the away side, Gary Cahill, Danny Drinkwater, and Thibaut Courtois are all set to be fit. Furthermore, Andreas Christensen has been cleared to play despite recently suffering a head injury.
