Barca take on Sevilla on Wednesday in a game which will require the Blaugrana to be at their best. The Catalan giants will have their deadly MSN trio back, having lost Messi to suspension for their last league game.
Ahead of this midweek fixture, Marca compiled a list of Barca’s fastest players. The Spanish publication took a look at the players’ quickest logged speed this season, with Neymar coming out on top.
This came as little surprise – speed is one of the player’s best attributes. The Brazilian came in at first at 34.83km/h, a number which he reached in March during a 6-1 win over Sporting Gijon.
Second place surprisingly went to Jeremy Mathieu. The French center-back does not strike you are the quickest player, but managed a top speed of 34.25 km/h against Deportivo.
Lionel Messi, one of the world’s best controllers, failed to make the top ten. Speed is not the best attribute to his game, as he managed only 32.27 km/h.
La Pulga wasn’t the only MSN attacker to miss out, as Luis Suarez made it at 11th at 32.86 km/h, a number beaten by six defenders.
Who is the slowest Barcelona player? That unflattering honor went to Ivan Rakitic, who managed a top speed of only 30.66 km/h.
