The Merseyside giants will face a club in the midst of a crisis. Nine months after winning the Premier League title, the Foxes announced the sacking of popular manager Claudio Ranieri, a decision which was met by disapproval from the public.
However, Liverpool have been handed their very own blow ahead of their King Power Stadium tie: an injury to a key player. According to the Daily Mail, that man is club captain Jordan Henderson.
The influential midfielder has not made the trip due to a severely bruised foot. The injury occurred during training, with the club hopeful of a quick recovery in time for Monday’s game, which unfortunately did not happen.
The absence of the Englishman could dent Liverpool’s Champions League hopes. A loss would leave Klopp’s boys in fifth – only a point ahead of sixth-placed Man United despite playing an extra game.
Henderson has not suffered a broken bone, despite rumors on Twitter. However, there are concerns that he might not be fit in time for the Arsenal clash next week.
